I don’t Know exactly, maybe it’s the fact that FALL 09 is looking very promising for the Connoisseurs crew.

Hello world, SAY HI TO SAM M. He just joined the Connoisseurs crew and we will be more than ecstatic to welcome him.  what started as a simple collaboration has developed into one of the most dangerous designing duos since???? lol okay maybe I’m a little too hyper but realistically Sam is the MAN and is a great addition to the team, I’ll introduce the other team members later (note! Sam and I are the only people responsible for designing the line except when we do collaborations of course)

Like I’ve said Previously, I re-evaluated my structure for the brand and decided, a team will be best to push the vision and utter dopeness of the brand.

also expect to get tired of me blogging as the title says, I’m back on my “you know” so rejoice! (or whatever lol)

Sometimes when I talk to people about the brand a common response is “oh why everyone have a brand now? I rock with your stuff though?” and the answer is not as simple as it seems. I am very aware of the over saturated market and honestly, even in it’s over saturation, it is still hard for me to find brands that I see as representing me and my state of mind. A lot of people who don’t necessarily care about their fabrics will see this post as irrelevant and somewhat materialistic. There are two aspect that make a brand appealing the message and the quality (in my opinion). I Enjoy brands such as Award Tour, King Stampede, Durkl for what they represent, and brands such as Supreme (sometimes) Wing + Horns, Ortlieb for the indestructible fabric they posses.

I honestly enjoy the simple details and the story of how clothing is made or what influenced them, the daily entries on the good times blog makes me love my AT shirt or hoodie even more, or the subliminal thoughts or King Stampede make me enjoy the pieces they drop more than I otherwise would, same goes for Durkl’s envelope pushing and constant creativity.

The state of our economy paired with the over  saturation of our cultures (streetwear if you have to label it) is a good thing, bad brands will fizzle out, great brand and creative minds will flourish, and sometimes unfortunately rich bad brands will too.

Our culture is in one of those phoenix rise from the ashes stage. It’s hype is dying and now the  Giant minds (not necessarily giant brands) will fly.

I hope Connoisseurs will be amongst those, even with my disgusting confidence it’s good to still be humble and hope, expect only the best I  have to offer people, the best!!

(I just realized I rambled for this entire post going off on tangents smh..)

Okay I know my boy Lebron is officially on vacation but the Nike has a classic commerical series on their hands. these Nike puppet commercials are just as enjoyable to watch as spike and mike in black and white 80’s/90’s greatness.

Although I really wanted a Kobe Vs. Lebron final, i’ll have to wait till next year, LBJ KING JAMES ALL THE WAY!! he gave his best but now it’s BLACK MAMBA TIME!!! I’m rooting for the lakers in what will be a less exciting NBA finals than I wanted.

I know I’ve been slacking so I’m just gonna stop apologizing for not doing my job to update on the daily, just so much out there in the world and I love experiencing it without feeling the need to document every single thing with a camera.

I’ve been loafing a lot on the posts so I apologize, It’s just hard to find the time these days, but I’ll do my best, I promise.

The other day I was feeling insecure about something and though it would be a good topic to discuss on the blog. It might come as a surprise to some of you that I would be insecure about anything since I’m either pretty confident to some, (or cocky to others). Either way I’m just like anyone else and I probably just hide my insecurities better than most. I also hate when people try to poke at your insecurities and make fun or put it in the spot light. it’s self esteem killing, heck, it’s dream killing! people this side of the planet pollute the atmosphere with hate all the time, I would say don’t let it get to you but from personal experience that is easier said than done. I’m sure if these people could sit with you, have an intellectual conversation, maybe they would have a different perception, instead of mindless negativity.

See insecurities are part of life, and mindless hate is also part of it as well. they are both normal and unfortunate occurrences. whatever you’re insecure about, accept it (if you can’t change it of course) and whatever hate comes your way, try to resolve it, or just embrace it, because at least their paying attention. that’s all i have in the wisdom well for today, sorry if you expected a more exciting post about the brand, or the days learning at DURKL , I’ll have to deliver that greatness later.

Everything in my life is moving pretty fast right now and it’s necessary to keep track of it in order to stay sane. re-Re-RE evaluating the hell out of the road I want to take the brand through, everything I learn every time I learn, I want to make the brand better. I’m going to drop 2 more t-shirts for the summer then it’s a wrap till fall 09.

The Above sneakers are the Lakai Telford Quite Life sneakers that I got a while back, I haven’t worn them in about  a year, actually I don’t own them anymore, I gave them away and stole them from my sibling for the day, and took some flicks. some people say you can tell a lot about people by their shoes, to some extent that is true, this is my 3rd favorite shoe on the planet (Adidas zx800, AJV) I don’t know what that says about me but they do look nice, lol.

As far as the relevance of the title to this post goes, I don’t know lol you decide. I’m at work right now learing to take over the world, I’ll post more work related stuff later ( I forgot my camera today) apart from this being the best job ever, my superiors treat me like an equal and help me out with whatever I need, I just thank God for the way things are going. till next time, peace and love.

I was gonna do more artist profile type posts but I feel that generalizes the brilliance of these individuals and does not allow elaborate, in depth exposure of their brilliance.

First up is John Mayer’s Vultures. Apart from Continuum being the single greatest piece of work John has to date, the track Vultures is one amongst many historic tracks.  At first glance Vultures is a song  just about the naysayers, haters, and every negative being on the planet, but it is also about the fear of blending into the crowd . Vultures are obviously animals know for feeding on the carcass of others, they circle and follow till an injured animal is dead, or close then they swarm in to devour.

That first verse speaks solely about the fear of blending in, the fear of being just another drone in the concrete jungles of the world. Fear of not leaving your own mark, everyone can relate to this, we want to lead not follow all our lives, want to be remembered, for some it’s okay to be remembered by just loved ones they impacted dearly, and others want to impact the whole world. Whichever category you fall under, John captures the full essence of that feeling in just 4 lines.

The hook introduces you to the vultures and hardships life takes us through. The second and third verse shows and inspires resilience against life’s hardships and not giving the vultures the satisfaction of seeing you fail.

We all have vultures in our lives and they would love to see us fall so they can feast on our failure, don’t let them! If you don’t have vultures then you’re not doing anything worth devouring and that my friends is sad. Work hard, Play hard, and keep on running to  protect your situation, keep on working to keep the vultures hungry for a meal that will never come.

I got an internship yesterday at DURKL, real cool guys, really dope brand, excited to learn from them this summer, getting my Leonardo on. They have one secret that I’m not supposed to tell anyone but wen do I follow rules, they probably won’t see this anyway, well here it goes…. NONE OF THEM ROLLER BLADE!!! lol. more T’s for the summer and as soon as the fall stuff is ready I’ll start posting previews.
