The Problems with dreams.

The Dreams I am about to speak of in this post are not the generally occurring cycles of imagination that are present only during REM sleep, the dreams I speak of are our aspirations, hopes and (you guessed it!!) DREAMS. The problem with most dreams is that people are either too scarred, ill equipped or too lazy to acquire them. TO ACQUIRE YOUR DREAM YOU HAVE TO CHASE IT FIRST!

n569840225_4817212_9512

People don’t get that sometimes, they feed into the statistics of who is making it and who is not, they ignore the concept of REALISTIC OPTIMISM which simply means you keep a positive outlook on the situation within realistic boundaries. John Mayer once said in a song (yes I’m quoting john mayer got a problem??) ” Fear is a Friend whose misunderstood” and I didn’t get it until later, see fear of failure drives people to neglect their dreams, but when you understand your fear of failure and the chances of acquiring your dream, the fear should simply aid you in acquiring that dream, you should work harder because you are too scarred to fail.

Being ill equipped and being lazy goes hand in hand. there are millions of free resources to help anyone get better at anything. If you have a dream, work on it, perfect your craft, (do I have to say it?? ) DON’T BE LAZY!! read, practice, observe, do all you need to do to get better.

I would love to continue on this topic as of right now, but I have a final to go do in the next 15 min. wish me luck

until next time, God bless.

A lot of stuff happened on the eve of May 2nd a lot of laughs, triumph over hardship, disappointment and crazy twists that had all the qualities to make any movie unbelievable. I will definitely post a more detailed account of events later on. For those of us who were there, we fully understand what this post represents, for everyone else, just wait and see. (i edited the heck out of that pic to save the identity of my compadres)

Recession Proof Kids

After a very disappointing day, (don’t ask) I walked around Soho, NY with my friend Ant and we realized that kids were lined up everywhere for a particular shoe, some paying $450 and even $600 for a shoe that retails for $215. I began to ponder,  WHERE ARE THESE KIDS GETTING THEIR MONEY FROM??? how can they afford these things in our countries current economic status.

img_5382

The answer is quiet obvious most of these kids are either draining their parents wallets, or allocating 80% of their hard earned money to acquiring these things.  Since they have no other obligations but themselves, they can afford to splurge on these luxurious items. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no position to tell anyone how to spend their money, it’s just interesting to me that these kids do not have the word recession in their mental dictionaries. I sometimes fall under this category, however the compounding amount of obligations has forced me to reconsider spending habits, I’m just saying, maybe you should to, buy some stocks, some car, invest in a business or something.

what are your thoughts? feel free to discuss it in the comment section

Till next time, peace and love, God bless.

Fear Not For Man. Fela Kuti

felap_004

I remember as a kid in Nigeria my family would blast Fela records and my uncles would promise me trips to the shrine (the venue where Fela played live) when I got older. Sadly he died before I was of age, and although his sons do a good job of continuing his legacy, nothing beats the saxophones and keyboard strokes composed by this student and master of the arts.

My Uncles would tell tales of how he would play 15minute compositions and if one note was out of place, if one note was played wrong, He would make the band start the song over. A true lover of his craft, If you’ve never heard a Fela record I advise you to do so, this man was a revolutionary, political activist, amongst other things.

felap_003

The greatest accomplishment of his to me as a kid was the fact that he married 27 women, most at the same time (polygamy is legal in Nigeria) I wasn’t impressed at his seduction of the women but the complexity of a man that would do so and still remain sane.

The showmanship of this great figure was also unmatched, smoking on stage, elaborate dances with unlimited energy, the man was simply amazing. I have seen enough documentaries of him to love and admire the force that he was, I only regret not being born a couple decades earlier in order to have first hand accounts of his greatness. As I keep pondering things beyond my control, I urge you to search for this man’s music, imeem is a good start.

till next time fam, stay blessed.
